Meadow Valley ‘Welcome’

Previously a hard, hot, bright courtyard, our client wanted a space where her young kids could play while the adults ate a meal in the shade. We included a small native meadow and a pergola for outdoor dining.  We needed shade, softness, and style!

For the hardscape, we used whitewashed brick to create an aged look, while vines and shrubs softened and greened the walls and pergola. An Olive tree will grow into this space, eventually adding in some additional shade and a sense of enclosure.

The built-in bench at the entry provides a functional place to gather, with storage below. The updated front gate, shutter, and mailbox paint details help unify the home's style and tell a cohesive story.

A flexible garden that welcomes you into the home and serves everyone in the family, whether the kids are playing, adults are dining, or the dog is resting in the sun.
